About the Mutual

A protection mutual designed by Christian organisations, for Christian organisations.

Why CVA is establishing the mutual

CVA Mutual has been developed in response to the growing challenges many Christian organisations are facing in the traditional insurance market including rising costs, reduced availability, and cover that does not always reflect how ministries operate.

CVA has taken a deliberate step to explore a model that better aligns with the needs of its members.

The goal is simple: to create a structure where protection is shaped by the sector, and where value is retained for the benefit of the organisations it serves.

What is a Discretionary Mutual Fund?

What is CVA Mutual

CVA Mutual is a member-based protection model designed for organisations connected to the CVA community.

Rather than transferring risk to an external insurer, participating organisations contribute to a shared fund that exists to support members when needed.

The structure is designed so that decisions are made with member outcomes in mind, not external profit targets.

Any surplus remains within the CVA community, helping strengthen the mutual, improve resilience, and support members over time.

This creates a model where contributions, outcomes, and long-term value are more closely aligned.

At launch, the mutual will focus on protecting core assets such as property and physical infrastructure, with additional protections expected to be introduced over time as the mutual grows.

Why it suits Christian organisations

Christian organisations often operate in environments that do not fit neatly within standard commercial insurance frameworks.

CVA Mutual has been shaped around the realities of camps, venues, and ministry organisations, with a focus on practical protection and long-term sustainability.

The model reflects several important advantages:

  • A structure designed around member benefit rather than external profit
  • Retention of value within the community
  • Greater alignment between contributions and outcomes
  • Flexibility to consider real-world circumstances
  • A solution shaped specifically for Christian venues and ministries

How the mutual is managed

CVA Mutual combines community alignment with professional management and formal governance.
